How do I create an excerpt?

The following article will detail how to create an excerpt in Dedoose.

There are two ways to create an excerpt for a document:

1. Click the Media Tab.

2. Open a document you would like to code.

The first way to create an excerpt is with the 'Create Excerpt' button

To apply codes, either double click them in the Codes section or drag and drop them from the Codes section into the Selection Info box

The second way to create an excerpt is to use the Quick Code Widget.

Follow these instructions to use the Quick Code Widget.

To create an excerpt from an audio or video file:

Click the Media Tab.

Click the Media Tab.

Open the video or audio file in question.

Open the video or audio file in question.

Use the blue brackets to select a Start and End time for your excerpt.

Click the ‘Create Excerpt from Current Selection’ button to create an excerpt.

Click the ‘Create Excerpt from Current Selection’ button to create an excerpt.

Double click or drag and drop codes from the Codes section to the Selection Info box apply codes to the newly created excerpt.

Double click or drag and drop codes from the Codes section to the Selection Info box apply codes to the newly created excerpt.

Clicking the ‘Create Excerpt from Current Selection’ button is not necessary, you can also double click any code to create the excerpt and being apply codes.
