How do I change the hierarchy of codes in the code tree?

The following article will detail how to change the hierarchical structure of a code tree in Dedoose. There can be a maximum of 5 hierarchy levels within the code tree.

 

First, enter Editing Mode for your codes.

Go to the code tree anywhere in Dedoose.

The code tree appears in multiple workspaces and does not have to be accessed in the Codes Workspace. It can be done while doing a variety of other tasks.

Click the ‘Edit Codes’ button.

Click the ‘Edit Codes’ button.

To make a code into a child code or sub-code:

Drag and drop the desired child code onto the desired parent code.

Drag and drop the desired child code onto the desired parent code.

Any child codes of the moved code follow it into its new position.

OR

 

Hover over the code you wish to edit and click the ‘Edit Code’ button that pops up on the right side.

Click the ‘Reparent Code’ button.

Click the ‘Reparent Code’ button.

Select the code that should be the new parent.

Select the code that should be the new parent.

Click ‘Submit’.

To make a child code into a parent code:

Drag and drop a child code into the Codes panel below all other codes.

Hover over the child code you wish to edit and click the ‘Edit Code’ button that appears to the right side.

Click the ‘Make Root’ button.
